About this journey
A little about who I am and why I started writing
Hi, I'm Samantha Duane
I never planned to write a book. I planned to survive. And somewhere in the surviving, I found words — messy, imperfect, honest words that helped me make sense of what I was going through.
My healing journey began after a season of profound loss — the kind that reshapes you from the inside out. I tried all the "right" things: therapy, self-help books, journaling. And while they helped, I still felt like something was missing. What was missing was someone who would say, "me too" without rushing me toward a resolution I wasn't ready for.
So I started writing. First for myself, in the margins of hard days. Then for anyone who needed to hear that broken doesn't mean the end. That you can be mid-healing and still be worthy of love, of joy, of a full life.
This book, this blog, this space — it's all part of the same ongoing journey. I'm not on the other side of it. I'm still in it. And I think that's exactly why I can write about it honestly. I'm not speaking from a mountain I've already climbed. I'm writing from the path, one step at a time, just like you.
What this space is about
Honesty over polish
Real healing is rarely photogenic. I write about the messy middle, not just the highlight reel.
Hope without toxic positivity
There's a difference between genuine hope and being told to "just think positive." I believe in the former.
Community over isolation
Healing in private has its place, but so does knowing you're not alone. This space is for both.
